Oil painting- young Chinese cook

This painting is participating in the contest IMAF

The painting shows a young Chinese cook in a kitchen while draining the pasta. The painting is based on a photo so it represents the real conditions in which many people are working. Remains intact the noble gesture of preparing to eat.
In fact, the habits regarding the preparation and consumption of food are often very different in various countries. In the Third World conditions of hygiene are very poor, unacceptable to the Western countries. What is common is the respect for food, and the nobility of the gesture with which it is prepared.

after the block-in with acrylics, I begin to add oil colors

Master copy step by step - American Artist

From American Artist November issue I am doing a step by step demo, adapting it to my style.
Note: the photo in American Artist was not detailed enough, so I went to Martinez' site to see the original  painting. In fact in this way I was able to see the color shifts and paint them. In order to paint a realistic portrait detail is necessary.

My copy of Martinez' self-portrait

On toned canvas, burnt umber sketch. I begin to add color.
a little later: adding light zones and refining

Adding progressively colors I've finished
